Text Box: A 10-day birding adventure on March 24 - April 2, 2008 to Costa Rica is open to a limited number of participants. The itinerary is designed to provide birding experiences in a broad range of Costa Rica’s habitats that are home to toucans, trogans, tyrranulets, tityras and tiger-herons, mountain-gems, snowcaps and sabre-wings.
Birders experiencing Costa Rica for the first or the fifth time will find a delightful array of species in destinations including Tapanti, Braulio Carrillo and Rincon de la Vieja National Parks, La Selva Biological Station, La Virgen del Socorro, La Paz Waterfall Garden, Bosque de Paz, the Hanging Bridges of Arenal, La Fortuna Hotsprings and the Bebedero River.
The trip also provides an opportunity to participate in the American Birding Association’s Birders’ Exchange program. This program helps supply researchers and educators in Latin America with birding equipment (binoculars, scopes, backpacks, etc.), videos and books. Anyone who wishes to help may donate money or equipment; trip participants may carry books or equipment for delivery to recipients in Costa Rica. For more information about Birders' Exchange and how you can help, look at the ABA Web
site at www.americanbirding.org and click on the binoculars icon Continued on Page Four

In addition to a wide choice of bird seed varieties, this year participants may order suet products and wild bird and deer blocks, as well as mealworms.

Products ordered in advance may be paid for when picked up on Nov. 3rd. RBAS will receive ten percent of all sales at  Birds-I-View that day, not just on the seed orders. Participants will also find a space on the order form where they may donate directly to the chapter.

Audubon society members will be at Birds-I-View that Saturday to assist participants with their orders as well as provide information about RBAS programs and memberships.

River Bluffs Audubon Society is holding their annual Bird Seed Sale on Saturday, November 3 at Birds-I-View. In addition to ordering seed on the form accompanying this newsletter, people may take advantage of a  coupon on page seven for a free a pound of seed at the store.

“We are going to do the best we can on the prices.” says Regina Garr, co-owner of Birds-I-View. With increases in production and transportation, “seed prices have really gone up,” according to Garr. “Apparently it is not getting better, but  I really believe we will continue to be competitive with any other retailers.”
