Embarks on Prairie Chicken Restoration
Text Box: The Missouri state office of the National Audubon Society, Audubon Missouri, selected a new executive director. Bruce Carr began his responsibilities at the Audubon Missouri office in Columbia on October 16. 	Before coming to Audubon, Bruce was the Roy Disney Chair of Conservation Education at the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA), headquartered in Silver Springs, MA, for nine years. Prior to AZA, Bruce was the Director of Education at the St.. Louis Zoo. 
	His experience also includes six years as assistant professor of botany and microbiology at the University of Arkansas. Bruce is a senior manager with in-depth knowledge of conservation education and science. He has a proven track record in building partnerships, fundraising and brand building. 
	The need to search for a new Audubon Missouri executive director arose when Roger Still was promoted to Vice President of Audubon's Mississippi River Programs. He now has an opportunity to coordinate activities at several state Audubon offices along the Mississippi River. 
	The Audubon Missouri board of trustees welcomed Bruce Carr at its September meeting in Cole Camp, MO During the board meeting, members provided their enthusiastic support for a major Text Box: prairie chicken initiative to be carried out by Audubon Missouri and the Missouri Department of Conservation in the Cole Camp area. As all of the River Bluffs Audubon chapter members know from our spring field trips, Cole Camp is one of the dwindling locations across Missouri that still host prairie chickens. This new project in the Cole Camp area seeks to restore and preserve habitat that will allow the prairie chicken population to thrive.
