The Big Woods Conservation Partnership, which is led by The Nature Conservancy, the Cornell Lab of Ornithology and others,  decided to create interpretive areas at the Cache River and White River national wildlife refuges and to post directions to these interpretive areas in a direct effort to minimize impact at the site where the ivory-billed woodpecker has been spotted.

      The Partnership felt as though interested people would come to Arkansas with or without specified visitation areas, and the Partnership felt creating designated interpretive areas near the area where the ivory-bill has been spotted would accommodate the needs and desires of those who will
