If you wish we'll carpool to Tom and Susie Shultz's property in southern Cole County for snacks and a walk. You may also go directly there, it's on Landing Creek Road, accessible from Highway E via Brazito or Wardsville; call Susie (496-4097) if you need directions. They'll have donuts, juice and coffee. Saturday, Nov 19 - Charlie Callison Trail Maintenance from 8:30 am until 12:00 pm. Come to Binder Park, and please bring lopping sheers, weed eaters, shovels, picks, bow saws, gloves, oh yes, snacks and water. We plan to clean up and repair the trail. Call Roger Randolph (635-6018) and let him know you're coming and what kind of tools you can bring. Stoke up on carbs and caffeine at Dudley's with us at 7:30 am, or meet us at 8:30 at the trail head, near the picnic pavilion on the east side of the lake, up the hill from the trailer camping area. Thursday, Dec. 8 - Ivory-billed Woodpecker program at 7 pm preceded by silent auction and dinner at 6 pm at Yen Ching Restaurant, 2208 Missouri Blvd. RSVP to Hillary Wakefield, 584-6720, before Sunday, Dec. 4th. We'll meet at Hy-Vee at 6:30 am for breakfast (7:00 am if you don't want to eat) and divide our survey area among the available birders. Spend as much or as little of the day birding as you wish.
