Text Box: River Bluffs Audubon and Birds-I-View will host Paul Salaman of the American Bird Conservancy and Fito Steiner of Fundacion Parque Nacional Pico Bonito. They are working with the Missouri Department of Conservation on an international project to provide habitat for many migratory birds.
A large number of bird species that Missourians enjoy travel thousands of miles each year to spend winter in Central or South America. In the past few years, the need to secure land with good bird habitat has become very important to the survival of many species.
In addition, scientific research is needed at the wintering locations. Audubon organizations and the Missouri Department of Conservation formed a partnership with officials in Honduras to obtain funds for land acquisition in an Text Box: River Bluffs

Text Box: Chapter Loses Longtime Text Box: Mark Sullivan, who was a member of River Bluffs Audubon for many years, passed away unexpectedly on January 19, 2008.
Mark was keenly interested in birds, bicycling, and outdoor activities. He was instrumental in developing the biking/hiking trail in the unimproved area along the West Edgewood greenway. Mark also started the effort to improve habitat on the hillside at West Edgewood. Now, six years later, visitors to the area may see many kinds of birds, insects, and wildlife.
If you ask people about Mark, they will say he had many personal adventures and contributed to good times and adventures in the lives of others. For example, a friend and I were once riding the KATY trail at lunch. We found Mark having a picnic with about 15 people! Of course, he offered to grill us a hot dog. He was just that kind of person, and he will be missed.
