Thursday, March 8 - Local bird expert, Todd Eichholz will give update on his recent experience attracting and managing Purple Martins at 7 p.m. in the Runge Conservation Nature Center’s auditorium. (For more information see story on page one.) 

Sunday, March 10 -- Pine Ridge Campground in Mark Twain National Forest, east of Ashland (half-hour drive). We'll check out the pines in the campground and maybe hike part of the trail. ~3-hour trip. Friday and Saturday, March 24 and 25 -- Sandhill Crane Trip. The people who have already registered for this should contact Dan Reed 573-634-2599,  dan.reed@hotmail.com soon to send in money for the blind that has been reserved.

Saturday, March 31 - Charlie Callison Trail workday. Last fall’s workday had to be cancelled due snow and ice, we’re hopeful that will all be behind us this time. We plan to start at 9 a.m. and work until we’re done. The trail is in pretty good shape, so if we have 10 members or more volunteer we should be done by 12:30 or 1 p.m. Bring a snack or two and something to drink. Please call Roger Randolph at 573-635-6018 to let him know that you will be able to help and what tools you can bring. 

Thursday, April 12  - Program on “Changes in Mid-Missouri Conservation.” at 7 p.m. preceded by silent auction and dinner at Yen Ching Restaurant. (For more information see story on page one.) 

Saturday, April 14 --- Trip to Scrivner Conservation area, near Russellville. Half-hour drive; half-day trip. It has a variety of habitat types, and we've found some good birds there in recent years. Saturday, April 21 --- Help lead a bird walk for the public as part of the Earth Day celebration. Meet at 8:30 a.m. in Washington Park at the parking lot across from the Ice Arena; we'll walk and bird the Text Box: Note to Field Trip Participants

t Always call the trip leader so you will know about last-minute changes in plans.
t On all trips bring appropriate clothing, including rain gear, and wear sturdy boots on hikes. 
Binoculars and bird-identification guides are helpful on the birding trips. In warmer weather bring 
drinking water.
t Trips will go rain or shine; after all, some of the best birding is in “fowl” weather.
